Just over nine months after drinker research groups in The White Horse at Parson's Green, the Revisionist Beer Series has been brought to market for Marston's Beer Company.
I created the Revisionist brand platform for Marston's from an initial brief to develop a Craft Lager, which we expanded following consumers telling us that a thirst for discovery and different beer drinking experiences was behind their demand for 'craft beers'.
The concept behind the Revisionist platform is to provide a showcase for brewers from across all five of Marston's regional breweries to have free reign to 'revise' different beer styles and deliver the different drinking experiences that consumers are searching for. Crucially the brewers have all delivered more accessible, balanced beers, rather than some of the extremes of craft beer scene, which can see many a drinker nursing something that has cost them £4-5, never to buy again.
For retailers, the range delivers a premium 'craft beer' category solution that provides an accessible way to signpost different beer styles and complement their ranging choices.
I'm glad to say that great beers with an equally great piece of steampunk inspired design by agency partner Butcher and Gundersen have proved a winning combination, with the range securing a national listing with the UKs biggest on trade beer retailer JD Wetherspoons.
